Minnie Sue Forbush, (nee-Slone), 80, of Carlisle Township passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday March 16, 2024. Minnie, a coal miner’s daughter was born in Pippa Passes, Kentucky to Elmer and Bessie (nee-Thornsberry) Slone where they raised a large family. Sisters, Jackie, Mary (Ramsey) and Evalee (Holt) Slone, and brothers, Omar, Alex, Paul and Jerry Slone preceded her in death. The siblings are survived by their brother Nelson Slone. Minnie is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 61 years, William “Bill” Forbush Jr. whom she met after her family moved to LaGrange, Ohio in 1959. Minnie and Bill fell in love as classmates of Keystone High School where she was crowned prom queen of the class of 1961 before they tied the knot months after graduation on February 2, 1963. Minnie’s childhood in the Hemp Patch “holler” along the Caney Creek- where she attended a one-room schoolhouse and ran barefoot-shaped her charming Southern hospitality and warmth for which she was cherished. She was a proud homemaker who welcomed all with sincere affection and good home cooking from cast iron skillets. She served and faithfully loved God through song and her unwavering love for her friends and family. Minnie was also preceded in death by her beloved son, William “Billy” Forbush. Minnie is also survived by her beloved daughter, Lori (Keith) Kotris; and twin grandsons, Fallon and Jared Forbush. Her family will be celebrating her life this weekend. Friends will be received Friday 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be held Saturday March 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at LaGrange Cemetery.
